Cengal Besar

Cengal, kind of hardwood, Scientific name Neobalanocarpus Helmii, commonly found in Peninsular and East Malaysia rainforest. It is listed as one of the endangered species by IUCN - the International Union for Conservation of Nature, since 2002. Due to excessively chopped down for high demand in timber industry.

Cengal Besar is known as the largest Cengal tree in Peninsular Malaysia found thus far. Estimated to be approximately 1,300 years old, 65 metres high and 16.75 metres of trunk diameter. Location: Pasir Raja Forest Reserve, Trenggenu.
